I bought it early because they sell out quickly in Alaska. When the snow came, it did not start. I took it back to Lowes, who would not take it as a return because it had been more than 30 days. They sent it off to a small engine repair shop where they ran a diagnostic and found out that it was a faulty ECU, so they ordered another one. The ECU took the entire winter and spring to arrive at their shop, and I did not get my snowblower back until July. This means I was stuck SHOVELING the entire winter after buying a $2000 snow blower. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy. This year, I went to use it after 3 feet of snow fell in a matter of days, and, funnily enough, IT'S STILL NOT RUNNING. I ran a diagnostic myself to find that the fuel pump is giving me low voltage once again, indicating that we need a new ECU, or a new fuel pump, which is apparently very hard to find. This is the second Winter in a row where I am without a snowblower even though I paid an enormous amount of money to ensure I would not have this problem. The small engine repair shop wants me to bring it in, which would mean this thing is out of my possession again for the whole Winter, I called Ariens customer service, and they refused to send me the part until I take it to the engine repair shop. At this price point, this is objectively the worst product I have purchased, and I am disgusted at how much time I have wasted with this snowblower. I want this thing out of my life.","Rating":2,"Recommend":false,"Token":null,"HelpfulCounter":2,"NotHelpfulCounter":0,"Posted":"2024-01-11T13:19:35.2998338","ApproverComment":"Rysen, We're sorry to hear about your experience with your Ariens snow blower. The webpage photo showed a likely prototype machine with decals stating 17 ft/lb. \n- UNDERPOWERED: The machine feels under-powered... Below even the 15 ft/lb. I have a 13 year old Poulan Pro blower with a similar size Tecumseh motor that feels stronger. This Ariens will not easily clear a foot of dry snow. I could stall the machine out in the lowest gear. I could understand this with heavy wet snow, but not a foot of dry. This motor may be better suited on the 24\" Ariens machine, but it should not be on a 30\". Took me longer to clear my snow than with my 13 year old 27\" Poulan Pro.\n- TERRIBLE THROTTLE DIAL: The \"throttle\" dial is plain stupid! It has no turn resistance or \"click-stop\" points on it, so it is FAR TOO EAST to turn. It can be vibrated out of place at times, & it is easily turned by just lightly brushing it when your hand/glove/clothes hits it as you try to operate other controls. I can't believe the company let this get the market with a dial like this... it shows a lack of common sense or lack of caring about the product & customer.\n- ODD CHUTE CONTROL: The chute direction control is not convenient at all, particularly if you are right handed as most people are. You have to reach far left in front of the dash to operate (With your right hand if you are in motion). For a few dollars more at most Ariens could have angled the control rod to the right a little and through the bottom of the dash so there would be a hand crank right between the handles. This location would be super easy for right handed operation and still easy for left hand.\n- AUTO-STEER: Ran out of room here. I used it twice last year and my husband stores it properly and charged it. He was checking it in September and noticed the fuel pump had an issue so he took it to the dealer for warranty work. We still do not have it. Ariens claims it is on backorder until March. I live in Ohio January is our snow season. What am I to do when it snows in January? All Ariens says when I or my husband calls is they will call back in 24-48 hours. My husband called December 18 still no call back. So I am assuming all production has stopped because of the fuel pump. Neither women I spoke with could answer that today. But I did tell them it was funny I could order a new one and I know it comes direct from Ariens because that is how it came when I bought it. Ariens women I spoke with tried telling me Lowes had stock, no they do not. Ariens is not helpful at all and I am very disappointed in their product and wish they would Just replace it. I am the one that does our driveway so they my husband can make sure the roads are good for the city he works for he runs the snowplows and how is he supposed to even get in his own driveway? This is the biggest waste of $2,000 and when we finally get it fixed we will not even trust that it will work right. We have read other reviews now and plenty of people keep saying the same thing. Local dealer (20+ years with Ariens), tried to talk me through an \"easy\" fix with the bracket below the dashboard. It must be a common problem with the assembly/set up as he quickly defaulted to that solution. However, the cable and rubber seals were properly seated. This is where Ariens' warranty comes into play. I have to take it back to the retailer to have it fixed, at my expense. I don't have access to a trailer and they would charge me $85 to pick up/deliver on a warranty issue. Bad move Ariens for not reimbursing your retailers to fix a known problem. I can understand having the expense to send it in for service, but not on a warranty issue. So between a $1,800 snow blower and the $4,800 Gravely mower that I bought earlier in the year I'm feeling that Ariens, Inc was a bad decision. Maintence manual mentions a fuse; I've looked everywhere. I'm going to call Ariens customer service and hopefully there's an easy fix. I purchased it at a big box store so I'm in the hunt for a good Ariens maintenance dealer. I will update as I go through this process.","Rating":1,"Recommend":false,"Token":null,"HelpfulCounter":2,"NotHelpfulCounter":0,"Posted":"2023-12-27T17:51:49.9033879","ApproverComment":""},{"MetaData":null,"HeroData":null,"ReviewID":17058,"ReviewGuid":"e254f32f-70e4-49d8-9333-2afb3aacab57","ModelID":"92104900","FirstName":"Robert","City":"","State":"IL","Email":"Groth.bob47@Gmail.com","Headline":"Owner ","Comment":"this is the second Ariens I have had I have used my Dads old 24 compact convertible He probably bought it in the late 70s The new one is so much better I love it looking forward to more snow I also have a John deere 47 inch hooked to a X540 tractor I like the Ariens more. both have cabs on them So happy I got the new one.\n","Rating":1,"Recommend":false,"Token":null,"HelpfulCounter":1,"NotHelpfulCounter":0,"Posted":"2023-12-27T10:40:10.8083044","ApproverComment":""},{"MetaData":null,"HeroData":null,"ReviewID":12309,"ReviewGuid":"571ec416-6c8f-4e18-a919-12365d1d7b0a","ModelID":"92104900","FirstName":"Frustrated in Nova Scotia","City":"Nova Scotia, Canada","State":"","Email":"dtwhynot@eastlink.ca","Headline":"First winter great, not so good year 2","Comment":"When I got the Deluxe 30 EFI it worked great...powerful...easy to start..throws snow a long distance. My first winter went great, no issues. This year (2nd winter) didn't make it through first storm. It started surging to the point that it wouldn't run at all. Took to dealer 2 times for this issue but they can't seem to figure it out. They are now thinking the CDI box is bad and are ordering one in. I will probably never get another EFI. Will stick to the good old carb (less to go wrong). My late father always had Ariens products and loved them, so that's why I got one. I'm hoping this can be fixed or it will be gone before the warranty runs out. Do not buy an EFI model","Comment":"EFI is junk DO NOT BUY ONE. I'm surprised that Ariens still has their name on this and hasn't issued a recall. They use to be a good quality company. Read all the other reviews about fuel pumps going bad and not lasting. Seriously consider it before you buy one. You are not even available to purchase new pumps from Ariens on their own website. I purchased my Deluxe 30 EFI in May 2020 so it wasn't used until that December. It worked great for that one year. The following year it spent January to March at the dealer for a fuel pump. The next year the same issue, fuel pump stopped working. Unable to purchase a replacement pump leaves me with a brand new machine useless in the dead of winter. Here it is August 2024 and I just charged my battery (another issue Ariens wont own up to) because if you don't keep the battery constantly charged it will cause issues down the road. Tried to start it and BAM fuel pump is dead again. Not even 6 months on this one. Four years old and I have an expensive paper weight taking up room in my garage. Ariens may still have good products, but the EFI is not one of them. Stay away from them. Great snowblower with a VERY CHEAP PLASTIC pull start handle. I live it Alaska. It's COLD here. Last year I borrowed my buddy's Deluse 30 EFI to do some blowing and 'test drive' the machine. It moves snow like no other snowblower I've ever owned...and I've owned a lot. So I bought one for myself this fall. The first day out, on the second pull, the pull handle snapped right off at the rope. The rope didn't tear...the plastic broke. It amazes me that you make a $2500 high quality snowblower then equip it with a plastic handle that probably costs you $2.00. Plastic doesn's survive in -0 temps. Take a look at chainsaw handles...they're all made of rubber (it doesn't break). I just made myself a wooden handle out of an old broomhandle rather than buy a replacement that will also break. My new handle will never break. Put a couple more $ into your handle (and don't up the price of your machine to recover the cost).
